Jason vs Zombies interview with Michael Sandt

You play a guy named Jason. There exists no humanity on this world. The world is full of zombies and you (Jason) are the only man who can save the world if you kill all zombies. You have to be a very good Zombie Killer for surviving 5 amazing Levels and Missions. It's a long way to the last level called "Zombie City". So you need many Kill-Points to unlock new weapons for free. You can also earn Bonus-Kill-Points if you cut the arms and heads of aggressively zombies with your different weapons. Your Level-Kill-Points will always be saved and you can play every level for new if it's unlocked once.

We caught up with game developer, Michael Sandt, to talk about Jason vs. Zombies.

Horror News Network: How did you come up with the concept for Jason vs. Zombies?

Michael Sandt: I have been a Friday the 13th fan since I was young, so I decided to make a game featuring Jason.

I didn't want to risk Apple rejecting the game because Jason was killing people. So I decided Jason should kill zombies, instead.

Horror News Network: Can you talk a bit about the challenges of creating this entire game yourself?

Michael Sandt: I have been a web and flash developer for about 10 years and was looking to do something a bit different. Two years ago I found Unity3D software and I began to develop games. This was perfect for Jason vs Zombies because it allowed me to develop the game with not much budget.

Horror News Network: What kind of weapons does Jason have at his disposal?

Michael Sandt: In this game, the slasher has a slingshot with bombs, three different axes, a pistol, a machine gun and two masks.

Horror News Network: Can you fill us in on the kill points in the game?

Michael Sandt: You earn more kill points if you are a good zombie killer...this means you have to cut arms and heads of the zombies which gets you more points to unlock new weapons.

Horror News Network: Can you talk a bit about the Zombie City level?

Michael Sandt: Level Design is hard work so the levels are not very big. Zombie City is a little city with a graveyard in the middle of some buildings. In Zombie City, the zombies are really aggressive and fast.

Horror News Network: Are you planning any updates to this game?

Michael Sandt: For sure! They will be in "Jason vs Zombies Part 2" and the first version will be free for download then. I plan to making Jason vs. Zombies Part 2 a 3rd Person game next year. I am in the process of modelling the character, he will have new amazing weapons!

Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more about Jason vs. Zombies?

Michael Sandt: www.jason-vs-zombies.com  although there is not much information there at this time.
Download URL: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jason-vs-zombies/id429366041?mt=12&ls=1

Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say about Jason vs. Zombies?

Michael Sandt: It would be great to have acompany who likes the game to sponsor Part 2. I would then be able to continue the production quickly!
