Leading casual game developer and publisher Legacy Interactive announced today that they have signed a licensing agreement with CBS Consumer Products to create a video game based on the iconic science fiction TV series Twilight Zone. The videogame, slated to launch in Q1-2012 on the PC and Mac.
We caught up with the game's producer, Jamar Graham.
Horror News Network: Will there be any footage of Rod Serling in the game?
Jamar Graham: This was one of the first questions that we tackled when we decided to develop this game. We wanted to create a light-adventure game that really immersed you into the story and made you feel a part of the Twilight Zone universe. So we decided to go with an illustrated portrayal of Rod Serling that would fall seamlessly in with the rest of the game. And I'm constantly amazed with the talent of our artists; Rod is looking great!
Horror News Network: Tell us about the main character of the game.
Jamar Graham: Well, I can't reveal too much right now, but what I can say is that the game will have several original episodes that will reflect the wide variety of themes from the Twilight Zone television series. The player will take on the role of a single character as they find themselves reluctantly adjusting to each situation. Part of the fun will be discovering the over-arching storyline of what connects the main character to the episodes and how they've entered - and how they escape - the Twilight Zone.
Horror News Network: What can we expect from this game in terms of creepiness?
Jamar Graham: We wanted to reflect the wide variety of genres and tones that the Twilight Zone series encompassed as it really did touch on a wide range of human experiences. To reflect this, each of the episodes will try to delve into a different aspect of the Twilight Zone, from the hopeful to the depraved. That being said: oh yeah, we definitely want parts of it to bring on the fear! Horror is going to be an important part of the experience. We're looking forward to scaring people!
Horror News Network: Is there any extra pressure creating this game knowing that The Twilight Zone has such a huge following?
Jamar Graham: I think the bags under my eyes are proof of that! But we're honored to be trusted with such a large responsibility. Generations of fans will be looking at us to continue the epic Twilight Zone legacy. At the same time, we would like to properly introduce the Twilight Zone to those who aren't as familiar with the classic show. As diehard fans of the series, no one is putting more pressure on us than we are.
Horror News Network: Will the game keep be made in color or will it be in black and white to keep with the era of the TV show?
Jamar Graham: The game is still in early development, but we're leaning towards color right now, in order to bring as vibrant and exciting a world to life as possible. We do believe, however, that there's something magical about the black-and-white aesthetic, so we're trying to add some of that feel as well to select sections of the game.
Horror News Network: Is there any DLC planned for the game?
Jamar Graham: We're still considering a lot of things, so it's an option on the table. Currently, our number one focus is to make the best Twilight Zone game possible.
Horror News Network: Are there any "Easter Eggs" hidden in the game, past characters from the show, etc?
Jamar Graham: YES, YES AND YES!!! We're trying to make the game as full of "winks" for the huge legion of fans out there. And while nothing is settled, I will say we are excited about maybe having appearances from a certain gremlin you may remember terrorizing an airplane passenger, a talking doll that's not afraid of dishing out a little justice and perhaps a little light cooking from the classic book "To Serve Man."
Horror News Network: Where can our readers find out more information on The Twilight Zone game?
Jamar Graham: You can go to www.twilightzonegame.com to check out the latest information on the game.
Horror News Network: In closing, what would you like to say about The Twilight Zone game?
Jamar Graham: Everyone involved in the project is fully invested in making a fun game that really delivers the Twilight Zone experience. For me personally, I've been a Twilight Zone devotee for years. While growing up, my mom and I had a tradition every New Years of watching the Twilight Zone marathons together. I'll still call her every New Years and we'll talk about the episodes we're watching. So we want the fans to know that we are as in love with the show as you are and we're going to make a great casual game that reflects that devotion.

Horror News Network: Thank you for your time, Jamar. Best of luck with the Twilight Zone game. Comment on this article on our forum.
