Rapid Turtle Games recently released their latest title "iRequiem", an action-packed, 2D horror themed shooter taking place in hell, which requires players to fight hordes of zombies and other creatures in a dark, gothic, medieval world. Horror-Video-Games.com staffer Stephanie Shamblin Gray caught up with Attila Siladji from Rapid Turtle Games to talk about their new game.
Stephanie Shamblin Gray: "iRequiem" is described as a fast-paced 2D zombie shooter and is now available from the App Store for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. What else can you tell us about the game?
Attila Siladji: "iRequiem" is all about action and gore which it delivers in high quantity. It's a true survival game where you are constantly surrounded by beasts of Hell. They have only one purpose, to extinguish the life of their victims. There is plenty of ways to destroy your enemies. In total 19 types of devastating weapons and 15 types of special abilities are at your disposal. It is possible to play "iRequiem" in two game modes: story driven Campaign, and an even more intense Survival mode.
SSG: Who are the main characters in the game?
AS: The story begins after the evil took the main protagonist's soul and endowed him with dark powers. He was banished by the real world because of the dark powers and closeness with the evil, but the dark side hunted him, because he wasn't a loyal follower anymore. Actually, he was such an evil in his life that, now in hell, wishes nothing more than to get his soul back and atone for his past mistakes.
SSG: What can we expect from this game in terms of blood and gore?
AS: There is plenty of killing, blood and fun :-) Blood and gore in such quantity is unusual for a typical iPhone game, but we did our best to stand out from the crowd. You can burn your enemies with a
flamethrower and even carbonize the corpses for bonus points! There are weapons like the Acid Gun which will force a monster to brutally explode into pieces. The game will award players for extraordinary kills, like killing multiple enemies at once, or killing more monsters in a short period of time for example. Also, you can overkill an enemy, which will result in gibbing that enemy. A nice way to blow away your stress.
SSG: Can you tell us about the enemies and bosses we will encounter?
AS: Players will encounter high variety of enemies in the game, from typical zombies and skeletons to other creatures from Hell. Occasionally mini-bosses will challenge the player. Additionally, big bosses are awaiting players at the end of each chapter. In total there are 21 unique types of monsters.
SSG: What about the "possession" ability?
AS: The possess is one of the 5 Dark Powers. The main protagonist learns these powers through the game. By killing enemies adrenaline will raise, and when it reaches the maximum, the player can activate one of the learned dark powers. When the player activates the Possess power, his spirit leaves his mortal body, and then the player can find an enemy to inhabit. Once the player takes control of the possessed enemy, he/she can use all of its attack skills until it dies. After this the spirit can inhabit a new enemy.
SSG: Any hints, tips, tricks, or cheats you can tell us about?
AS: Kill or be killed. The creatures are seeking with merciless determination to consume the flesh of the living, so players need to be quick with their weapons. The game requires quick reflexes and tactical thinking. Besides of various weapons, there are spells, dark powers and rites available, so the player needs to combine all of these to efficiently eliminate the hordes of monsters. You will have to learn the weaknesses of each enemy, and to use the most appropriate weapon or special ability.
SSG: Are any upgrades in the works?
AS: Yes, we are already working on an update which is planned for January. Game Center support is coming first, so players will be able to compete with each other through Apple's social gaming network. 2 player co-op multiplayer and a brand new character with unique weapons and special abilities is coming after the first update.
SSG: Where can our readers find out more about "iRequiem"?
AS: There is a dedicated website for the game at http://www.irequiemgame.com. Also, there is some info on our company's website at: http://www.rapidturtlegames.com.
SSG: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about "iRequiem"?
AS: The game is easy to pick up and play, and offers plenty of killing fun. I guarantee that anyone who enjoys 2D shooters with a horror theme will enjoy playing "iRequiem". We put a lot of work into this game to make it a polished horror action experience.
