Alive & Undead is a brutal, uncensored vampire quest sprinkled with clichés of both side-scrolling beat-em-ups and sub culture phenomena.
We spoke with the President of Shortfuse Games, Johan Hermerén, about the Alive & Undead game.
The Big Bad Wolf: Can you give us a synopsis of Alive & Undead?
Johan Hermerén: Alive & Undead is comicbook styled 3D beat 'em up game designed for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade. We've a put alot of effort into the artstyle, which is rather Burtoneqsue and dark, though still warm since the dark humour. Besides that, the game is about, well, beat 'em up. Alive & Undead features a kickass combat system with literally unlimited links, chains and combos. Punch, kick, shoot, throw with styled and get rewarded. Also, the game is very much about co-op. You know, special co-op combos and certain game mechanics and areas will only be available in co-op sessions.

Who are the main characters in the game?
Johan Hermerén:
Mr. Smith and Hellsing Welson. Mr. Smith is perhaps THE greatest rockabilly impostor in the world, being specialized in one certain great artist... He is agile and stylish, perhaps a consequence of his trade. On the other hand, Welson is powerful but slow, and not as charismatic as Mr. Smith. She's a witchhunter after all, not an entertainer. The very sad part of the story is that Mr. Smith's family somehow was killed by Death and his minions, becoming a vampire in the process. This has shattered Mr. Smith's life, forcing with to leave his lucrative career which he loves and go into a desperate revenge mode, to kill Death. For Welson it's just another day at work.
The Big Bad Wolf: Are users able to play as both Mr. Smith and Welson?
Johan Hermerén:
But yes of course! Tag team in singleplayer and co-op in multiplayer.

What types of weapons and powers do Mr. Smith and Welson have?
Johan Hermerén:
Mr. Smith is weilding a pair of tonfas and two custom made revolvers. Our friend Welson trusts her powerful shotgun and her chargeable mechanical arm.

Johan Hermerén:
What types are not? Expect a wide variety of the Underworld's ugliest and meanest creations.
The Big Bad Wolf: What can we expect from this game in terms of blood and gore?

Johan Hermerén: Let's say it will be interesting to hear PEGI and ESRB's opinion on this.
The Big Bad Wolf: When will this game be available and for what systems?
Johan Hermerén: No. There is only one available view, but it adjusts dynamically based
on the car's speed and maneuvering.

Johan Hermerén: Autumn 2010. We're developing Alive & Undead as a downloadable title for PlayStation 3 but it would be neat if we could do Xbox 360 as well.
